Fort Collins sits on the northern end of Colorado's Front Range, inside the stretch of the plains that storm forecasters call Hail Alley. From late April through early September, afternoon storms build over the foothills west of Horsetooth Reservoir and push east over town. A single storm can leave thousands of cars along Harmony Road and in the Midtown lots with cracked or pitted glass.
Winter brings a different problem. The sand and magnesium chloride that Larimer County and CDOT spread on I-25, US-287, and Mulberry Street get thrown up by every truck ahead of you. A chip you pick up on the commute to Loveland in November will often spread into a full crack on the first sub-zero morning, when the defroster warms the inside of the glass while the outside stays frozen.
Gravel is the third culprit. Trips up the Poudre Canyon on Highway 14, out to Horsetooth or Lory State Park, or along the county roads toward Laporte and Bellvue all mean loose rock on the surface. Most of the chips we repair in Fort Collins start as a tiny star from a pebble thrown by an oncoming pickup.
Mobile service covers all of Fort Collins and the surrounding towns in Larimer County. A technician comes to your home, your workplace, or a parking lot with the glass and tools on the truck. Most windshield replacements take about an hour, plus a short cure time before you drive.
Usually 20 to 30 minutes. The resin is injected into the chip, cured under UV light, and polished flush with the glass. You can drive immediately afterward.
If you carry comprehensive coverage, glass damage is generally covered, subject to your deductible. Many insurers waive the deductible entirely for a chip repair because it is cheaper than a replacement. We can help you file the claim and bill the insurer directly.
Yes. Cars with lane-keeping, automatic braking, or adaptive cruise have a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield. After the new glass goes in, that camera has to be recalibrated so the safety systems see the road correctly. We include ADAS calibration with replacements on vehicles that need it.
Yes. Pickups, vans, and light commercial vehicles are a large part of the work around Fort Collins. Ask about fleet pricing if you run more than a couple of vehicles.
